What is bare metal hosting and how is it different from cloud VPS?
Bare metal means a dedicated physical server with no virtualization layer. You get all CPU cores, all RAM, and all storage IOPS of the machine — no noisy neighbours, no hypervisor overhead. Cloud VPS and EC2 instances run on shared physical servers partitioned by a hypervisor, which adds latency and resource contention. Bare metal wins for database workloads, ML training, media encoding, and any latency-sensitive application where consistent performance matters.
Is bare metal managed or self-managed?
Self-managed by default — you get full root access and IPMI. Managed ops (OS install, patching, security hardening, monitoring, incident response) is available as an add-on and can be added without any server migration. Clients who want DevOps control run self-managed; businesses without a sysadmin add managed ops from day one.
What is the provisioning time for bare metal servers?
Standard configurations (Entry, Business, Performance) provision in 24–48 hours. Custom configurations — specific CPU models, non-standard RAM, additional storage — take 3–5 business days. Contact us with your requirements before ordering to confirm availability.
What CPUs are available?
Intel Xeon E-2300 series (entry), Xeon Silver 4300 (business), Xeon Gold and AMD EPYC (performance), dual AMD EPYC (high-memory custom). All production tiers use ECC RAM (business tier and above) to prevent silent data corruption — critical for database servers.
Is DDoS protection included?
Yes. Network-level DDoS scrubbing via Cloudflare is included at all bare metal tiers. Advanced DDoS protection (higher traffic volume, application-layer) is available as an add-on for financial and high-traffic targets.
Can bare metal servers be used for machine learning workloads?
Yes — and bare metal is often the right choice. Dedicated EPYC cores and ECC RAM handle CPU-intensive preprocessing and inference without the hypervisor overhead of cloud VMs. GPU add-ons (NVIDIA L4, A100) are available on performance and custom tiers via ZenoCloud's AI infrastructure partnership. What is cloud repatriation and does it make sense for my workload?
